“Activision” said that in 2023 a new paid part of “Call of Duty” will be released

“Activision” has announced that a supposedly new premium installment of “Call of Duty” will be released in 2023. Nevertheless, there is no reason to worry, because, according to authoritative game journalist Jason Schrier, it will be a big paid expansion for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II”, and it is likely to be sold at full price ($ 70), because it will include a new story campaign and slightly updated multiplayer experience. Apparently, this is the reason why Activision refers to this major DLC as premium content in its financial report.

He also added that the next game from “Treyarch” is still scheduled for release in the fall of 2024, so the departure from the modern setting in the near future is not worth waiting.

Paid Call of Duty in 2023

Yes, despite the rumors, Activision claims in their report that they will release a full premium release.

A well-known game journalist explains what that really means:

It will be a paid add-on for MWII, with a new campaign and map set that will include the best maps in franchise history from all the studios. What’s more, he says the expansion is being handled by Sledgehammer Games.

Here’s what Hope said:

It’s a new cycle, now all COD will come out every 2 years, and the 2nd year is DLC.

What I think of it:

A full premium release probably means the add-on will cost as much as the full game, that’s ok, I’m willing to buy, I’d buy the new COD anyway. SH is kind of stressful, but considering they’re just acting as a developer, completely under Infinity Ward – well probably ok. The best cards in the series are great. But how will they divide players in multiplayer? How will they separate the weapons? It’s hard for me to see what that should look like.
