The scandal surrounding the g2 team

One often asks, what are useful idiots? Here they are.

The flag of russia is murder and destruction. But as usual gamers don’t give a fuck, we’re dumb, we’re off-politics.

When I first saw this photo on the streamer today, many people in the chat room couldn’t (or wouldn’t) understand, what’s the big deal? What on earth did the G2 players do that was judgmental, given that they play with a Russian on the team?

Flag, like coat of arms and anthem are the symbols of statehood of certain countries. A set of ideas, rules and concepts that this state follows, by which people live.
The truth is that on February 24, Ukraine, a peaceful country, was attacked completely unprovoked under the state symbols of the rf. It was with this symbol that the G2 players decided to take a picture after 10 months of war, after hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties and dozens of destroyed cities. Maybe that’s a symbol of sorts, too.

The G2 manager claimed that the players didn’t see the flag or didn’t know about it. It seems unlikely to me that out of the five players in the photo, not one of them had the thought that something was wrong here (although I hope so). And this at a time when practically all of cybersport monolithically supported Ukraine and condemned the inhumane, destructive actions of Russia. At a time when NaVi is organizing a show match in support of the Ukrainians with a large number of top organizations participating.

At a time when “good and evil” are not blurred, but clearly visible, standing on the sidelines is unlikely. Everyone chooses a side.

“Do unto people as you would have them do unto you.”

Just imagine if Russia attacked Bosnia, fucked up everything there, killed a lot of people, and the notional Liquid or Bigi took pictures with the flag of that country. What would Nico and Hunter think, would they be okay?
