New England ground signs with real location in The Hunter: Call of the Wild 2024

Landmarks of New England with real location. In this guide, I will show all the ground signs with their actual location and name.

I decided to do this as a fun project after recognizing Madison’s boulder (Favreau’s boulder). The location of real points of interest will be represented by icons on the backup map below. Thanks for watching and have a nice trip.

Places from the game and a real place in the real world.

Locations without Speculation

Located in Madison, New Hampshire, this giant piece of granite is a must see if you find yourself in the Mount Washington Valley. Just 15 minutes from North Conway, New Hampshire.

Mount Washington Observatory (Mount Alcott Obervatory) | Sargent’s Purchase, New Hampshire

Mount Washington, located in Sargent’s Coopers and towering 6,288 feet, is at the top of the mountain. There is a meteorological observatory at the top of Mount Washington. At the top of Mount Washington, some of the highest wind gusts in the world were recorded.

Conway Scenic Railroad Freight Yard (Smith Scenic Railroad) | North Conway, New Hampshire

North Conway, New Hampshire is home to the main station and freight yard of the Conway Scenic Railroad. The Scenic Railroad runs from Conway, New Hampshire through Franconia Notch and the base of Mount Washington. On the way, it passes through high bridges, rocks, mountain rivers. This is a very interesting trip.

The Saco River Covered Bridge (Poe Covered Bridge) | North Conway, New Hampshire

One of the first covered bridges I ever crossed in my life was this one. It connected Conway to North Conway before a modern bridge was built a few hundred feet below. It is still standing and is a pleasure to look at. Many river tourists pass under this bridge and many other covered bridges during their drunken trip.

Mount Liberty Flume Gorge (Conway Pond Trail) | Lincoln, New Hampshire

Unfortunately, this model does not convey all the beauty of this area. Flume Gorge is a labyrinth of wooden walking platforms around giant granite ledges, near waterfalls, through glacial cuts in granite. This is a beautiful place and a must see if you find yourself in the Mount Washington Valley.

Frog Rock (The Old Toad) | New Boston, New Hampshire

There are chunks of granite boulders around Maine and New Hampshire similar to Madison’s Frog Rock, which traveled down the glacier and decided to rest where it stands in New Boston.

Paddock Mine (Mafrousse Mines) | Lyman, New Hampshire

There are many mines and quarries throughout the state, in particular, in the northern part of New Hampshire there was a large copper mine.

The Ruggles Mine was used as a gemstone quarry, amethyst, mica, feldspar and beryl were popular stones mined at the site.

Madame Sherri’s Castle Ruins (Bramare Mansion) | West Chesterfield, New Hampshire

In 1959, Sherry’s “castle” was vandalized, destroying the furniture. Heartbroken, Madame Sherry vowed not to return. Three years later, the house burned down completely, leaving behind only the masonry.

Locations with Speculation

Sherman’s Farm Corn Maze (Padavona Corn Maze) | East Conway, New Hampshire

New England Ground Signs With Real Location In The Hunter: Call Of The Wild 2024
New England Ground Signs With Real Location In The Hunter: Call Of The Wild 2024

There is a lot of conjecture associated with this maze, as there are numerous corn mazes in Maine and New Hampshire. Sherman Farm caught my eye when I saw the corn maze because it’s a 5 minute drive and they make neat patterns every year. Like this one, a sad reminder of the CB who had everything and lost it in a season below .500.

Sherman’s Farm (Gilman’s Pumpkin Fields) | East Conway, New Hampshire

Again, I have gone too far on this point, as the Mount Washington Valley is full of farms and farm shops. The first thing that popped into my head, so here it is until someone else has an idea about the developers behind Gilman’s inspiration for Pumpkin Fields.

Locations with no Land Marks (Places where there are no land marks)

Tuckerman’s Ravine | Mount Washington, New Hampshire

On the southeast slope of Mount Washington is Tuckerman Gorge, a popular winter destination for skiers who ski up and down. In summer it is a popular place for hiking. Although there are no points of interest nearby, in the game this location is directly behind the Mount Alcott Observatory, so geographically it coincides with the Mount Washington Observatory and the place where Tuckermans should be. Besides, I couldn’t help noticing that this place is strikingly similar to Tux seen from Hermit Lake.

Cathedral Ledge | North Conway, New Hampshire

I stumbled upon this place as a lookout, spotted a chain link fence and a rock, the first thing I thought was Cathedral Ledge, I could be wrong and it’s just pure coincidence.

I’ll add more if I find it.

Below is a map of the New England Conservation Area, above the approximate location of the land marker I have placed the New Hampshire icon with a red dot at the location where this land marker is located in New Hampshire in the game.

Final word

Thank you for finding this guide, I hope it was an exciting Journey.

For me, who lives in the heart of this expansion (15 minutes from The Conway Scenic Railroad), it was interesting to jump around the reserve and look at various locations that, in the opinion of the developers, could be a good addition to the game.

Some of them have been modeled exactly the way they look, which is great to see the attention to detail. I’m looking forward to exploring more and I hope other places will be of interest to me.

I welcome feedback, if anyone notices anything, or if anything can be changed about my findings, please leave a comment below.
Have a good day!
