Bugs and Exploits of Patch 7.30: Uncovering the Secrets

The long-awaited update of Dota 2 to version 7.30 arrived in August. As a result, players experienced changes in character skills and talents, leading to a plethora of unusual situations. Bugs were pouring in, judging by user comments and screenshots on social media. Of course, some of these issues will likely be addressed in future patches. We’ve compiled a selection of the most interesting flaws and bugs that players have encountered.

Clinkz’s Attack Range Boosts the Power of Another Ability

After the update, it turned out that Clinkz now directly affects the Barrage skill, significantly increasing attack range. Users are still debating whether this is a bug or an intended feature. Clinkz activates multiple effects and deals around 60% damage.

Prior to this, you could only enhance Burning Barrage with a level 20 talent, investing only 125 points. You can also buy Dragon Lance to achieve the same result without enhancing the ability.

Users have also noted that Clinkz lacks sound effects, which is undoubtedly a bug. The effect is practically inaudible, regardless of the direction of the attack.

Midnight Pulse Doesn’t Pierce Spell Immunity

The new description of Midnight Pulse states that this ability deals damage to units immune to magical attacks. However, this is not the case in practice, as some YouTube videos have shown moments where the ability fails to deal the expected damage.

Anti-Mage with Shard Absorbs Too Much Damage

Reddit users have noticed a discrepancy between the ability description and its actual effect on Anti-Mage. According to the description, Anti-Mage should reduce magical damage in a radius from 300 to 900 by 10-30%. In reality, it absorbs pure damage as well. This is confirmed by real user examples found on the Internet.

It’s likely that developers will address this issue in the future. In the meantime, you can safely pick Anti-Mage and take less damage. If you combine it with Pipe of Insight and Mage Slayer, damage reduction can go up to 93%. This makes Anti-Mage nearly invincible.

Non-Functioning Effects

There are issues with Drow Ranger, Tusk, and Gyrocopter where their effects aren’t working. This bug appeared right after the 7.30 patch. In some cases, after reaching level 15, the animation reverts to the standard view, and the intended effect doesn’t work, as if those 15 levels didn’t matter.

In Tusk’s case, the Immortal effect disappears on Ice Shards until you have a complete Aghanim’s Shard. Without it, the effect remains in its classic appearance.

With Gyrocopter and Shard, the new Homing Missile begins targeting enemy units. Rockets are supposed to be charged with the Immortal, but it’s missing. This is a common topic on Reddit.

Meepo Clones Can’t Be Stopped

Two significant bugs are related to this issue, and they haven’t been fixed yet. They are directly linked to Aghanim’s Shard.

  1. Only the old Artifact effect is available when purchased, giving both the old and new effects.
  2. The updated ultimate creates a clone of the target that won’t do anything useful. Killing the clone can yield loot, and it may respawn. This can result in multiple clones.

Grimstroke and Outworld Destroyer Don’t Work Correctly with the New Patch

The indicator showing the cooldown time for Grimstroke’s abilities, particularly Ink Swell, is inaccurate. Although the patch extended the delay before reactivation by a couple of seconds, it’s not correctly displayed. This makes it challenging to determine if the ability is ready for use based on the indicator.

A similar issue occurs with Outworld Destroyer. If you apply Astral above an ability, the message doesn’t appear. This was previously used to time combos with Meteor Hammer, but now it’s much harder to do without visual cues.

Zeus’s Talent Doesn’t Trigger

With the new patch, Zeus gained a talent at level 25 that allows him to deal damage to a designated area through Lightning Bolt. However, the passive effect only affects one target. Additionally, the talent may not work with Lightning Bolt from Nimbus. It’s still unclear whether this is a bug or an intentional design choice.

Hoodwink’s Shard Doesn’t Allow for Kills

With the help of Aghanim’s Shard illusion, Hoodwink can apply a weakened version of Bushwhack. This can root enemies without dealing any damage. However, if you use the regular Bushwhack on the same area, it won’t deal damage either, but it will still attach to trees.
