AI Storyteller
RimWorld is not designed as a competitive strategy game, but rather as a story generator. In this game, it’s not about winning or losing, but about the dramatic, tragic, and comedic events that happen in your colony. Events such as pirate raids, trader visits, and storms occur in the game, but these events are not random.
RimWorld uses an AI storyteller (similar to the AI Director from Left 4 Dead), which analyzes the situation and chooses the event that it believes will create the most interesting story.
In RimWorld, you can choose one of three storytellers: Cassandra Classic, who skillfully plans the construction; Phoebe Chillax, who is unpredictable; and Randy Random, who is completely unpredictable.
In RimWorld, you can choose from a variety of characters, each with their unique skills and traits. An aristocrat may be strong in social skills (for recruiting prisoners and negotiating trade prices), but refuses to do physical labor. A farmer knows how to grow food but cannot do research. A boring scientist is good at research but completely incapable of solving social tasks. A genetic killer can only kill, but does it very well.
Each hero has their individual character traits. Neurotics work faster but are more prone to stress and nervous breakdowns. Rough heroes have difficulty getting along with others and spoil the mood of those around them. Nudists love to walk around naked, and cannibals enjoy eating human flesh.
You can increase the number of colonists by accepting refugees, capturing prisoners of war and recruiting them, buying them from slave traders, saving them from raids, or using advanced genetic manipulation methods to create new colonists.
In RimWorld, you will also have to face various challenges such as pirate raids, hostile tribes, wild animals, and ancient killing machines. You will need to build and defend your colony, gather resources, and research new technologies to survive and thrive in this harsh world.
