Inspired by cyberpunk, “Power of the Law” is a top-down tactical action game. Here, you deal with law enforcement enemies in a group of six people, which you personally have to form. The game is non-linear, which means, for example, that dialogues will change depending on who becomes your partner. Naturally, the storyline is branching and dynamically changes according to the player’s actions. “Power of the Law” was released in 2004 and became a prequel to “Code Access: Paradise Cracked,” another police story set in the future world.
According to the plot, the game’s world (near future) has experienced a civil war over Mars, and control over Earth has been decided to be handed over to AI. The world government, represented by a supercomputer, is trying its best to bring humanity to prosperity, sometimes requiring the assistance of a police Squad under your leadership.
Later, the game received an expansion called “Police Stories”; the developers (Russian team “Cats Who Play”) also released a “Gold Edition,” which included the game with the expansion and a soundtrack. In 2015, both games were remastered, making them compatible with new operating systems, graphics cards, high screen resolutions, and bug fixes. Since 2016, the development of a sequel (HTTPD: Power of the Law) has been ongoing.
