Gabe Newell Likely Won’t Attend The International 2021
Various sources, especially Escorenews, continue to report that the tenth anniversary edition of The International for Dota 2 may take place without the game’s founder. Gabe Newell has attended all previous Internationals and opened them, but this time, he doesn’t plan to risk his health due to the situation with new waves of coronavirus in Romania.
We want to highlight that earlier, Valve had already decided to exclude spectators due to the new waves of coronavirus. All tickets will be refunded, but it’s important to note that this only applies to purchased stadium tickets, and there won’t be compensation for other damages.
Previously, Gabe mentioned that in New Zealand, where he currently resides, COVID-19 is not a major issue, and he would have been happy to host one of the tournaments there. However, he later explained why it’s currently not feasible to organize The International in that country.
