The Last of Us is back as HBO announces third season
The serial version of the cult video game The Last of Us continues to win the hearts of the audience, and now HBO is preparing news that will delight all fans. The creators announced the release of the third season, which will continue the story after the events of the second season four years after the finale of the original source.
At a National Association of Broadcasters event in Las Vegas, co-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin confirmed that they don’t plan to stop there. However, there are no other details about the third season yet.
The first season of the series told the story of The Last of Us and its Left Behind expansion. In the second season, viewers will see the story from the sequel with the introduction of a new key character.
The showrunner has confirmed that a second season is in the writing phase and will begin filming in British Columbia in late 2023. Estimated release date is late 2024 or early 2025.
