Slay the Spire combines different genres – roguelike RPG and collectible card game. The Spire’s Summit is the victory point, but to reach it, you will have to collect a complete combat deck. The story is somewhat reminiscent of Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone. However, don’t expect to easily assemble an uber deck and defeat your enemies with just a glance. Once you dare and stop fearing trouble, the game will show you your place and present unpleasant surprises with special severity.
Interestingly, in Slay the Spire, you won’t be swiftly moving across platforms, trying not to get hit by enemy weapons. And the Ornstein and Smough monsters won’t annihilate you with a single look, and you won’t have to come up with lightning-fast solutions. The player in Slay the Spire is allowed to spend hours thinking about which card to play next. Naturally, no one will rush you. But there’s a “BUT” here too – the decision made, just like the card layout, can be catastrophic.
