What’s Wrong with Call of Duty: Vanguard? First Impressions of the Game.

Last weekend saw a highly anticipated public alpha test of Call of Duty: Vanguard, a shooter game that blends classic Deathmatch with the thrill of a battle royale.

At the start of each match, players are given lives, and the count decreases with each death. The concept may seem straightforward at first, but the chase for points profoundly impacts the gameplay, causing it to evolve rapidly. After a few rounds, players are given the opportunity to gear up, with options ranging from pistols and rifles to shotguns and even machine guns.

In the full version, it’s unlikely that the scale of battles will be increased. It’s unclear which audience the new mode is intended for. Without a doubt, the technical execution is set to delight any gamer. There’s a sense that the shooting mechanics have been finely tuned. It’s too early to draw definitive conclusions, but the core gameplay mechanics seem to be working exceptionally well, just as before.
