SMS Authentication Coming to Call of Duty: Warzone.
Developers of the game have finally tackled the issue of cheaters in a radical manner — they’ve introduced SMS verification for game access. This move ensures that cheaters in Warzone can’t easily violate the rules and create numerous accounts. After a ban, they would need to change the phone number linked to the profile.
Starting May 12, 2020, all PC players will be required to link their accounts using two-factor authentication. This is expected to reduce the influx of new users in the game and their accounts since cheaters would always create a new one after getting blocked, aiming for a swift return to Warzone to continue their illicit activities.
Infinity Ward believes these are the initial steps against cheaters in Warzone. Future updates will further shield players from malicious actors, and gamers can continue reporting cheaters directly within the game. All reports are reviewed by moderators who decide whether to ban or not.
