Valve has launched a Workshop contest with $1 million in prizes

CS: GO developers are ready to reward the ten creators of the best original weapon variants. The Workshop contest began on July 22, and entries can be submitted until October 21. Players can submit as many designs as they want and create them alone or as part of a team. One contestant can win more than once.

The company encouraged skin designers to either adapt existing works or create entirely new ones. Winners selected by Nov. 21 will each receive $100,000 and their weapons will be featured in the game as a new set called Dreams & Nightmares.

The developers have selected 17 specific weapons for the contest. Valve also provided a style guide for the available finishes, which lists key factors that determine skin levels and conditions for accepting submissions. For example, their visibility or recognizability.

Contest winners will retain the rights to their creations – submitting an entry grants Valve a non-exclusive license to use the skins in CS: GO. To participate in the contest, you must have a Steam account (good reputation, spent at least $5 on purchases).
