PS Store Blocking Doesn’t Work in Kazakhstan. Reasons?

Today, the company Sony has decided to exit the Russian market, completely blocking games in Russia, which has also led to the blockage of other countries, including Kazakhstan and Belarus. Batyrkhan Togaybayev (PR Director of the Esports Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan) has expressed concerns about this decision.

“This could affect PS Store users. This platform is popular in Kazakhstan, and according to our estimates, the number of active users could reach one million people. Formally, the cessation of PS Store operations in Russia does not mean that Kazakhstan has also been blocked. There is one reason: our country was not included in the PS Store systems before, just like Belarus. We had to choose Russia not only to access games but also to have a Russian-language interface,” said Batyrkhan Togaybayev.

From the above, it can be understood that players from Belarus and Kazakhstan often used the Russian region because their regions were not provided within the platform. He also sent a request to Sony to inquire whether they plan to add a separate region for Kazakhstan in PS Store.

“We do not have great hopes; we are still an insignificant market for them and do not have the same purchasing power as American users. But we hope to receive some explanations,” added Batyrkhan Togaybayev.
