Russian Sentenced to 2.5 Years for World of Tanks Cheats
A disappointing piece of news for cheat enthusiasts who sell cheats. The publicized session at the Verkh-Isetsky District Court has concluded, and the court has sentenced Andrey Kirsanov to 2.5 years of imprisonment for selling cheats for the game World of Tanks. Thus, the claim under Part 2 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was satisfied.
Interestingly, it was the game development company itself that turned to the court, representing the well-known franchise. Kirsanov immediately admitted his guilt and hoped for leniency. However, representatives of Wargaming demanded in court to compensate them for the 670 million rubles in damages caused by the cheats that were widespread at that time.
Later on, Wargaming withdrew their claims regarding monetary compensation. It is currently unknown whether Kirsanov will appeal the decision in the appellate court.
