Cry of Fear is a modification for HALF-LIFE created by the independent company Team Psykskallar. Most likely, the developers decided to work on this project after the overwhelming success of the game Portal. However, the gameplay of these games is drastically different. Cry of Fear is a first-person horror game. The company was able to create a popular product – initially, the project appeared as a mod, but soon it was released on Steam as a standalone game. It is currently completely free on Steam.

The game has a very interesting and unusual storyline. After an accident, the main character becomes disabled and completely loses interest in life. He starts using drugs and eventually falls into depression. To fix the situation, Simon seeks help from a renowned psychologist. The doctor decides to treat Simon in an interesting way – he asks him to write a book about all his thoughts. In the protagonist’s notes, he is no longer disabled, but he is being pursued by various monsters who want to kill him.
