Ranking and Bloody Hunts: New Modes in Bloodhunt.

Hello, Bloodhunt community! During Early Access, we received a lot of positive feedback. One of the recurring things we heard from you is that Bloodhunt is a game that’s easy to get into but hard to master, which is precisely what we had in mind when developing the game. However, this has brought its challenges.

As Bloodhunt became available for some time, the active community could easily outperform a new player who was trying to learn various abilities, weapons, and movement combinations.

We don’t want to compromise on high stakes and a high skill ceiling, but we need to find a way to ensure a friendly game environment for new players, guaranteeing that we always have a healthy player base for quick matchmaking.

This led us to create the following two game modes:

RANKED MODE

This is the classic Bloodhunt mode that you know and love from Early Access, with the addition of a ranked matchmaking system. You have one life, and you’ll face off against people with similar skill levels, vying for Dominance in the Bloodhunt leaderboards and ultimately facing the best Bloodhunt players in the world.

This mode will be available shortly after the release of Bloodhunt, and we anticipate that reaching approximately level 10 of player progression will unlock it. This will help make it more challenging for cheaters to gain access.

Players can earn ranking points (RP) by defeating enemies and securing high placements in matches. You’ll be matched with other players with similar RPs (RP-based matchmaking). There are no match variations in this mode.

In Ranked mode, various ranks are also provided, which you can display on a rank badge next to your avatar.

Here are some details on how the ranking system works:

Accumulation of Ranking Points

Your rank depends on the number of ranking points (RP) you have. You’ll earn points for kills as well as match placements. We’ve decided to give greater importance to eliminations to encourage a kill-oriented playstyle and make the ranked mode engaging for both players and viewers. Even if you secure the first spot, you’ll still get a decent chunk of RP.

Match Entry Fee

Participating in a ranked match will cost you a fixed amount of RP. The cost varies depending on your rank.

The first rank is, of course, free, allowing you to start playing in ranked mode immediately after the season begins.

As you progress, the stakes get higher, requiring more consistent wins and a higher average number of kills to climb the ranks.

We value the time and effort you invest in Bloodhunt as a player, so once you reach a new rank, you stay there. You’ll never lose your rank within a Bloodhunt season, and the challenge lies in climbing to the top rank, requiring incredible skill and dedication at the highest level.

Rank Thresholds

There are six ranks that you can climb as you accumulate the necessary number of ranking points (RP). Between seasons, the RP count and ranks are reset entirely, allowing for a fresh start and a new race for the top.

Rank Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Diamond Obsidian
RP Needed 0 2,000 4,000 6,000 8,000 10,000
Match Fee 0 15 30 45 60 100

BLOODY HUNT MODE

This is a new mode designed for both Bloodhunt newcomers and existing players who primarily play the game as casual enthusiasts. This mode employs a respawn mechanic to give players an extra chance without needing to load into a new server if they are immediately killed. Upon death, you’ll respawn at a random location near the death spot with a blue AK and a spiked bat in your inventory, giving you a chance to survive and defend yourself.

Respawned players will also be invulnerable for a short period until they get their bearings. During this brief period, players can move and jump to secure a better position if someone is nearby. Players can also replenish their used extra lives by consuming special potent mortals. This mode will also include various match variations to make it fun and engaging.

We believe that with the extra lives, this mode not only becomes more welcoming to new players trying to familiarize themselves with various abilities and weapons but also makes the game more dynamic and engaging as people are willing to take risks and go all out, regardless of skill level.

We hope this article has been informative for you, shedding light on our thought process in developing this particular aspect of the game, as we aim to increase Bloodhunt’s popularity over time.

Until next time, see you in the twilight!
