The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the third installment in the game series developed by CD Projekt RED, created on the progressive REDengine 3. The main feature of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is its completely open world, which is approximately 40% larger than the one implemented in the previous version of the game. For example, it takes a whole 40 minutes to travel from one end of the map to the other on horseback.
The story, like the world itself, is not divided into chapters, parts, or acts. After launching The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you will play as Geralt, whose memory has returned, and he no longer plans to work for the “Faction”. In other words, he has become completely free and will now decide for himself where to go and what exactly to do.
The essence of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is reflected in the game’s title – “Wild Hunt”. In simple terms, you will need to explore new locations, killing monsters along the way and solving certain puzzles (almost like in the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski). However, although the gameplay here is non-linear, the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have decided to add twice as many cutscenes to the game, which in total amount to 100 hours.
So, Geralt is free to move wherever he pleases. But there is one feature that should not be forgotten – the level of the main character does not adjust to the level of his opponents, so there is no point in going to locations where high-level enemies reside immediately after launching The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. By the way, Geralt will encounter various animals, monsters, and people on his way. If Geralt poses a potential threat to any of them, the enemy attacks first. If not, you can calmly pass by. However, the behavior of in-game creatures depends on many factors, so you need to constantly be extremely attentive and careful.
As for battles, in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt will have 96 combat animations (there were only 20 in part 2). Also, each attack is now assigned to a specific button, and all movements are of the same duration. Any move can be interrupted to block an opponent’s attack or dodge. Moreover, the main character can no longer run and roll – this system has been REPLACED with high-speed attacks and nimble evasions.
