Mod for The Witcher 3 Improves Game Optimization and Graphics

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt update has caused a lot of problems, mainly experienced by PC gamers. It became especially inconvenient that the game’s optimization with ray tracing turned on was poor. CD Projekt quickly responded to the issues by releasing a second hotfix, but players are still encountering FPS drops.

The creators of The Witcher 3 promise to address optimization issues in the future by releasing new patches. However, many modders are already taking matters into their own hands by releasing unofficial modifications that improve optimization.

For example, Nexus Mods user alikoko has created the Optimized Raytracing mod, which optimizes FPS by reducing the system load when using global illumination. This allows players to enjoy the new visual effects introduced in The Witcher 3’s “next-gen” update without significant performance drops.

The Optimized Raytracing modification’s description provides detailed statistics on the increase in frames per second. On average, using version 0.4.1 of Optimized Raytracing, this metric can increase by 25% (from 36.6 to 47.6 frames per second) while addressing various issues, including game crashes. These results were obtained on an RTX 2060 Super graphics card.

Anyone interested can try this unofficial mod by downloading it from the “Files” section and placing the OptimizedRT.ini file in the [The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt]binconfigplatformpc folder.
