Why Did Vanguard Go on Sale So Quickly?

I don’t think it’s due to low sales, but the fact remains – Vanguard went on sale earlier than MW19 and CW. Why am I only comparing them? Because starting with MW19, they switched to a new model with a battle pass and skins in the store.

So I have 3 versions, and most likely, they all influenced this decision:

  • They don’t need to show the sales figures to shareholders for the first quarter (for the game, it’s the fourth for the year), they need to show the number of copies sold, so they can put 20€ (they won’t) and distribute (even I got one) a huge number. But they need to show these millions of online players in the new game.
  • The new model implies player engagement; they want as many people as possible to have their games so they can later donate for skins, battle passes, and blueprints with tracers. [By the way, many criticize the game for the lack of inspection; it will definitely be added, they just haven’t had time to do it for all guns with all modules; they won’t give up selling mastercrafts]. So, more copies sold at any cost = more profit from microtransactions.
  • And of course, they understand that the setting has become boring; everyone wants to play MW19, MWII, or even the war in Iraq or Chechnya, but in our time. The zombie mode is essentially absent, and waiting for a normal round map is definitely not worth it. [Which doesn’t explain the maximally crappy dark ether, although the golden snake is fine].

What do I think about all this?

I think they didn’t need to release Cold War; they should have let Treyarch release BO5 in 2021, and Sledgehammer would have figured something out. We, the players, find ourselves again in a situation where our favorite series takes off and now stagnates because shareholders need numbers.

Selling the game on sale so soon is a cocky move; I would like to say that no one will buy the next part at the start and will wait for discounts, but they will buy it anyway, it’s MWII.

But nonetheless, Vanguard is the best shooter of this year, it can be improved with an abundance of content. Well, I’m not sure about zombies, but what if they have a vision? For me personally, Vanguard is better than CW and all Call of Duty games before BO2. Is it better than MW19? Of course, especially for me as a PS5 player, it’s the next-gen version of MW19 with fantastic maps, a bunch of diverse weapons (balance wouldn’t hurt). But the absence of reasonable zombies, lousy operators, and 70 levels on each gun turn the game into endless grinding. I really hope for the introduction of new modes.
