Detailed Statistics of Dota 2 Heroes in the Second DPC Season

Another DPC season is about to end very soon. It’s almost the end of May, and there are very few matches left. However, there is still a lot of content waiting for you. Ahead, there is fierce competition in the standings, many exciting matches to watch, which is a real pleasure.

In essence, different parts of the world have developed their own playstyle and game style. In some, it coincides, while in others, there is nothing in common. Today, we will discuss the best tactics in different regions and touch on the topic of win rates among heroes, as well as discuss some of the worst heroes.

Europe

Let’s start with the part of the world we are familiar with. First, let’s talk about the heroes we haven’t seen in action. There are 7 such heroes, but one hero is worth excluding from this list, and that’s Dawnbreaker. We also wanted to see her in action, but it won’t happen for now. In that case, let’s highlight the other heroes absent from all the games: Ogre Mage, Outworld Destroyer, Clinkz, Nature’s Prophet, Silencer, and Sniper.

While the absence of some can be explained, for example, it’s logical that we haven’t seen Silencer and Sniper, the absence of others is quite surprising. Each of these heroes could have shown good results in various positions. The same Ogre Mage, with whom players did incredible things, has simply faded among other heroes. It remains to be seen if these heroes will return to the players’ lineups over time.

Having covered this topic, let’s now talk about more interesting heroes. We’ll discuss heroes with a very high win rate. At the top of this list is Monkey King. This hero didn’t appear often this season, but whenever he was picked, he showed results. Monkey King’s statistics are quite impressive – six matches and five wins. Consequently, this hero has an eighty-three percent win rate. Most often, Monkey King was picked by the Ghost Frogs team. However, Level Up did lose one match with him.

Next on the list is Windranger. Statistically, this hero doesn’t differ much from the previous one, with just one game’s difference. This hero has a very decent record, with five matches and one loss. We have seen her much more frequently in professional matches. She is often chosen by Team Secret, Team Liquid, and Hippomaniacs. Interestingly, the latter team caused her only loss.

Razor also stands out with interesting statistics. In twelve matches played, he emerged victorious in nine. This results in a seventy-five percent win rate for the hero. He won every match when paired with Grim Stroke, Earth Spirit, Disruptor, and Nyx Assassin. Only Morphling spoiled the hero’s record, as he lost one out of two matches with him.

This hero is considered the talisman of players from Vikin.gg. Some teams picked him five times, although they lost two matches. Other teams like Frame, No Bounty Hunter, Team Bald Reborn, and Team Liquid picked him only once, but each time they won with him.

Next is Tidehunter, who was spotted on the battlefield seventeen times, with twelve of those being victories for him. This means the hero has a seventy-one percent win rate. Many well-known teams used this hero, and only the Brame team disappointed. They used the hero twice and lost both times. Tidehunter performed best when paired with Snapfire, with five wins in six matches together.

One of the best in Europe is also Faceless Void, an interesting hero with a good record. He played sixteen games and achieved a sixty-nine percent win rate in those matches. Not the most popular hero at first glance, but teams like Team Liquid, The Alliance, Into the Breach, and OG frequently used this hero.

Moving away from the previous discussion, next comes Morphling, with a stat of fifteen games and a sixty-seven percent win rate, and Lifestealer with a sixty-five percent win rate in twelve matches. They are often paired with Centaur.

The biggest underachiever turned out to be DOOM. He won only one out of eight matches. A similar situation occurred with Spectre, with nine games and a meager two wins that tarnished the statistics. This can be explained by the fact that many in Europe know how to counter her.

In terms of the number of matches played, Dark Seer has no equals. He participated in fifteen games, with a win rate of thirty-three percent. Very few teams managed to achieve good results with this hero.

Also considered as underperformers are Mars, Wisp, Phantom Lancer, Gyrocopter, and Void. These heroes have win percentages not exceeding forty percent. They have generally shown weak performance.

China

In China, different heroes are more commonly used, and other heroes are popular there. The hero Axe, having played only three games, won all three. His main competitor, Grim Stroke, was picked seventeen times and emerged as the victor in thirteen matches. Grim Stroke predominantly prefers to play on the Radiant side, as he won eleven out of twelve games on that side and only two out of five on the Dire side.

Tusk, on the other hand, has a win rate of sixty-five percent in sixteen games. Playing for different teams, he displayed varying results. For instance, he performed flawlessly on the Radiant side but only won five times out of eleven matches on the Dire side. Nonetheless, his overall statistics are impressive. Additionally, in China, heroes like Weaver and Ursa are frequently used, with win rates of approximately sixty-three and sixty-four percent, respectively. Teams like Aries and Phoenix have performed well with these heroes.

Now, let’s talk about the weak and unnoticed heroes. Starting with Luna and Oracle. At first glance, these heroes may seem dangerous, but in reality, they are far from it. Luna has played nine games with only two wins, and Oracle has played nine matches with three wins. Moving on to Mirana, her statistics are truly dismal. To put it in perspective, her win rate is zero percent. She has not won a single game out of seven played. Phoenix also didn’t perform well, with five wins out of fifteen matches. It’s strange to see such statistics for these heroes. Other heroes that didn’t fare well include Pangolier, Lion, and Mars, with win rates not exceeding forty percent. It’s worth noting that Phoenix performed best with Lion, and Aries with Mars.

In China, they prefer tried-and-true options, rarely opting for unpopular or unknown heroes. This explains the relatively low number of different heroes used in the region. Alchemist is a solid choice for many players, although he currently appears weaker than before, making him a suitable pick for starting a match.

The list of heroes that have not appeared in a single match is quite extensive, including heroes like Drow Ranger, Earthshaker, Brewmaster, Meepo, Naga Siren, Pudge, Slark, and many others that are rarely used in China.

The most popular heroes in China at the moment are Mars and Lion, while Enigma, Monkey King, and Templar Assassin are less favored. It’s unfortunate because it would be interesting to see these heroes in the hands of experienced Chinese gamers.

Southeast Asia

Since Southeast Asia is located near China, they are quite similar. Here, Lion and Grimstroke are also at the top, with Lion playing 46 games and Grimstroke playing 45. Following them are Centaur, picked in 39 games, with both of these heroes having a positive win rate. Grimstroke has a 75 percent win rate, and Centaur has a 56 percent win rate. Tiny, Tusk, and Snapfire also feature prominently.

Unpopular heroes in the region include Jakiro, Naga, Enigma, Chen, Bane, Huskar, Techies, Silencer, Spirit Breaker, and others. They were not picked at all during the season, although in certain situations, they could have been helpful to some players. The strategy here, again, is similar to China, relying on proven choices and avoiding experiments. Sometimes this tactic works well, and sometimes it doesn’t.

A major mistake was made by some teams in choosing Venomancer. In Cignal Ultra and 496 Gaming, after playing four games, he failed entirely, not winning a single match. However, there is a hero with even worse statistics, Rubick, who played eleven games, nine of which were losses. Many teams attempted to make something happen with this hero, but it simply didn’t work.

Broodmother, Dazzle, and Phantom Lancer also didn’t bring any success to their teams, with each of these heroes only achieving one win out of five matches. Not the best statistics, to say the least. Dragon Knight has a 23 percent win rate, which is also subpar. Mars is in a similar situation, with five wins out of sixteen games.

Night Stalker has performed well, with many good matches to his name. Necrophos is another hero worth mentioning, as he gained popularity and has been the subject of numerous articles analyzing his strengths and weaknesses.

Clockwerk and Oracle stand out as formidable heroes. These heroes are nightmares for many players, as no one wants to face them as opponents. The former achieved eleven wins in fourteen matches, and the latter secured seven wins out of ten. Truly intimidating numbers. Ember Spirit is not far behind, winning nineteen out of twenty-eight games. Motivate.Trust Gaming was particularly successful with this hero, although other teams also performed well with him.

Southeast Asia also values Enchantress highly. It’s hard to say why, but she is picked quite often. Despite that, her win rate is a respectable 59 percent, which is better than many other heroes. She is followed by Shadow Demon, Shadow Shaman, and others.

CIS

Now, let’s move on to the most interesting part for us. Our region differs from others in its stability. Luna and Monkey King are struggling, with Ursa having a win rate of only 20 percent, and Phantom Lancer being ineffective in battles. These are the realities of our region. Clockwerk and Warlock are even more disappointing, with a win rate of only 17 percent. To be honest, it’s not the best statistics, but maybe we should take a look at the games in Southeast Asia and learn something useful.

Our players often chose Lion, but it wasn’t the best idea. Only one team managed to show something meaningful with this hero, Team Unique, who achieved a solid 75 percent win rate, a confident result. Other popular teams failed to cross the 40 percent threshold.

Storm, HellRaisers, and Team Spirit also performed well with this hero. Other teams, however, had mediocre performances.

Recently, Bristleback has lost its popularity in our region. It was not picked at all during the season, which is quite strange. Previously, pairing Bristleback with Keeper of the Light worked well, and these heroes were capable of achieving a lot together. However, the latter has not been able to reach its former level for a long time. So, they are picked less frequently and only in certain situations. But, as you can already understand, such situations were rare. There’s no need to list other rarely used heroes, as the situation is similar to other regions.

Southeast Asia

Only the hero Techies stands out, having been used just twice by the team Puck Champ. They picked him in one match against Virtus.pro, but they couldn’t secure a victory as Virtus.pro convincingly defeated them in a matter of minutes. The hero got a second chance against Winstrike, and this match was more interesting than the previous one, with suspense lasting until the end, but they still couldn’t win.

Terrorblade, Winter Wyvern, and Nature’s Prophet have also lost their popularity among gamers. This is strange because these heroes, in capable hands, can show decent results. Let’s talk about the heroes that are used most frequently and have the best win rates. Windranger tops this list. She has played a few matches, only eight, but she emerged victorious in seven of them. Many teams haven’t lost a single match with her, with Virtus.pro being the only exception, having made an error once.

Concrete examples can help you understand the significant regional differences. In Asia, heroes like Phantom Lancer and Troll were forgotten by many players and were rarely used, but in our region, it’s a completely different situation. Phantom Lancer has fifteen wins in twenty-four games, and Troll lost only five out of fourteen matches. There are several reasons for the success and popularity of these heroes. In Europe, these heroes are quite popular as well. In most cases, these heroes show good results, only failing in certain situations.

Death Prophet and Drow Ranger also didn’t deliver a convincing performance. They were picked many times, but their win rates were low. A bit worse than them are just a few heroes. After the patch, Lina became much more popular.

Abaddon, Oracle, and Leshrac often won matches that lasted for 25-30 minutes. These heroes are oriented toward quick attacks, as long as the players use this tactic when attacking.

If a match extends to 50 minutes, it makes sense to use Ancient Apparition. Similar timing is ideal for Spectre or Medusa. Heroes that can last until the 60th minute are incredibly rare. These include Grimstroke, Invoker, Anti-Mage, and Winter Wyvern.

North America

The most popular hero in this region is Warlock. It’s not the most obvious choice, but he appeared in 37 games, and teams like Arkosh Gaming and Evil Geniuses managed to win all their games with him. The other heroes are already well known to you: Lion, Centaur, Monkey King, and Puck. These heroes don’t reach the level of Warlock, but they are quite popular in North America. Tiny could have been on this list, but his statistics are a bit lacking.

The gameplay in this region is quite different from others, with players experimenting a lot. Players made a good attempt to play Lycan, but it didn’t yield good results. Strong teams used Zeus and Vengeful Spirit in their matches, but they couldn’t achieve anything notable with either hero. Gamers ignored Alchemist, Arc Warden, and Pugna.

Speaking of Grimstroke, who is popular in other regions, the situation is entirely different here. His statistics are just awful. After playing 24 games, he managed to win only five. Even more disappointing is the fact that this is the worst performance in all of North America.

Unexpectedly low win rates were also observed for Windranger and Tidehunter, with win rates below 35 percent. In this region, Techies is highly valued. The team DogChamp picked him several times and always came out victorious.

Viper also stood out with impressive stats. He won nine out of ten matches. Slardar is close to him, especially when paired with Snapfire; they can work wonders in battles.

Some strong teams won all their matches with this hero. Only the guys from Felt couldn’t achieve the same result.

In professional matches, Bane has been appearing more frequently. This is excellent news for his fans. His statistics are also not disappointing – 5 wins and 2 losses. Abaddon, in contrast to the previous hero, is not performing as well, but in capable hands, he can still put up a decent game.

Southeast Asia

The list of popular heroes also includes Queen of Pain, making a strong comeback. Many believe she should be at the top not only in this region. She has been noticed mainly in lower divisions for now, but if she maintains her mettle, we might soon see her in the top division. Her abilities are astonishing and impressive. She moves quickly across the map and deals immense damage to opponents. Many top teams are in awe of her.

South America

Teams from this region have not achieved significant results yet, but they are promising, and in the near future, they could surpass their counterparts from other regions in terms of status. Speaking of the gameplay style, these teams play fast and aggressively, which sets them apart from their opponents. Each team has its own meta and tactics that allow them to defeat any opponent.

Let’s start with the more popular and top heroes in the classic sense. You might be surprised, but Grim Stroke, Puck, and Mars are not in the top three. They also have their popularity, but it’s not as significant as the main meta of the region. Centaur Warrunner, Snapfire, and Tiny are the most popular in South America. For example, Tiny participated in 41 matches, of which 25 were victories. Centaur is also picked by many teams, with the best statistics for him being with NoPing e-sports, where Centaur hasn’t faced a single defeat, only six victories.

There were also attempts to play as Arc Warden, but nothing worthwhile came out of it. The Crewmates and SG e-sports teams couldn’t make much out of this hero. To unlock his full potential, you need to invest a lot of effort and time. The only option was to use him in combination with another hero, but even that didn’t yield much.

Rubick also didn’t show anything special. Only one victory in seven matches. This single victory was achieved with NoPing e-sports. The rest didn’t show anything interesting.

Death Prophet also holds an honorable place in the list of underperformers in South America. This hero is quite popular and often picked, but out of 21 games, only 7 turned out to be victories. Unjust statistics for such an interesting and powerful hero. Inverse managed to secure four victories out of five matches with Death Prophet. The rest showed less successful results.

Lifestealer disappointed many players. In other regions, this hero is in the middle of the list. In South America, he’s at the bottom. Teams tried various tactics with this hero, but even that didn’t help, and he often ended up losing.

Heroes like Nyx Assassin, Gyrocopter, and Bloodseeker usually have at least a 57 percent win rate. And that’s far from the worst result. When you play aggressively and quickly with these heroes, your chances of winning become incredibly high. The key is to keep the opponent at a distance constantly, and by following this rule, the chances of victory increase manifold. If you use more passive tactics, it’s unlikely to achieve a decent result.

As for the currently popular heroes, you can immediately highlight heroes like Sven, Elder Titan, and Bristleback. In previous regions, these names weren’t mentioned, but here, they are at the peak of popularity, which is a bit strange, isn’t it? Recent patches also allowed users to use Shards. Now Sven, for example, can display his potential at the beginning of the match. Good early-game armor and farming make this hero genuinely powerful, especially if he falls into capable hands.

Titan is another standout hero, genuinely capable of many things. Among the advantages, it’s worth highlighting the high damage output and magic resistance, making him nearly invulnerable to attacks from certain heroes. Binomistas used him the most, and they had an excellent record of six wins and two losses with this hero. Other users only picked him in specific situations.
None of the above-mentioned heroes could match the power of the Elder Titan. Again, he was most often seen in the second division, but he also made an appearance in a match between Hokori and SG e-sports.

Who’s the Imba Now?

Analyzing all the regions and their tactics, it can be concluded that there is no player or strategy that cannot be defeated. They all differ from each other because they primarily play for themselves, choosing strategies that make them comfortable. A hero popular in North America like Warlock can also be popular in Europe because gamers choose different tactics for themselves, regardless of what is said about a particular hero. A well-thought-out strategy and cohesive teamwork – that’s the real “imba” with which you can defeat any opponent. If some heroes are popular in professional DOTA, it doesn’t mean that using them will make you unbeatable.
In the early stages, Centaur, Mars, Snapfire, Lion, Grimstroke, and Tiny are often picked, and this is indeed a good choice. Different heroes are chosen for different positions, such as Medusa for the carry role and Storm Spirit for the mid lane – there are plenty of options.

Heroes like Timbersaw, Tidehunter, and Dark Seer can also perform well. To support them, you can pick Lion, Tusk, Spirit Breaker, Nyx, and Snapfire. Due to the recent patch, Lina is often seen in the second and fourth positions.

The fifth position is the trickiest. Ancient Apparition is often picked, followed by Snapfire, Grimstroke, Oracle, and Abaddon. However, other options can be considered as well.

In general, there are many possibilities, but placing the strongest heroes in every position is not advisable, as it would be unplayable. The choice also depends on the game’s pace and your opponent.
