Liquid team is already in the top 3 at TI 11 in Dota 2

The elimination series between Team Aster and Team Liquid on the penultimate day of the lower bracket of the TI11 Main Event was an absolute spectacle. It was an all-out war between two giants in the fight for the top three at The International 2022.

The first game was very tense until the very end, with both teams constantly exchanging blows with each other, trying to raise their morale. While Team Aster chose a classic Chinese draft with a sniper at the end of the game, Team Liquid chose an aggressive draft with Lina, Marcy, Broodmother, Bloodseeker, and Lich.

Despite the great drafting skills of Team Liquid, Team Aster managed to hold their position until the last minute, but it was Marcy with Boxi who wreaked havoc in the Chinese ranks. His outstanding maneuver created a threat and set Team Liquid up to struggle in the later stages of the game. Eventually, they found a way out when sniper Monet was taken by surprise and killed without ransom, after which Liquid walked down the mid lane and ended the game.

The second game was the exact opposite compared to the first: Team Aster dominated from the very beginning. The sneaky selection of Pudge and Omniknight helped Aster to corner Liquid. Liquid’s ultra-late heroes, Storm Spirit and Morphling, did not bring positive results in favor of the European team. By the 27th minute, Team Aster had a huge advantage of 23 thousand gold and brought the series to the decisive third game. Team Liquid had no answer for Aster’s last pick Pudge against Liquid’s last pick Storm Spirit. It was a ticking time bomb and Team Liquid eventually evaporated.

Team Liquid guaranteed themselves a top three finish at TI11

The decisive game of the TI11 Main Event had everything: emotions, expectations, hype, and extremely tricky drafts. Team Liquid chose their best weapon – Matumbaman’s choice – Night Stalker. It was a pleasant surprise to see Matumbaman on Night Stalker along with an aggressive approach to the draft phase.

Team Aster chose a passive-aggressive lineup with Naga Siren, Primal Beast, and Beastmaster. Compared to the first two matches, the game was rather sluggish as Team Liquid was on the back line for the first few minutes.

However, as the action started to pick up, both teams were once again involved in a fierce battle. By the 20th minute both teams were on equal footing, but a few aggressive moves from Team Aster put Team Liquid in a bit of a better position. In 5 minutes Team Liquid gained a significant advantage, pinning Roshan and winning another team battle in their favor.

Mikke and Matumbaman showed themselves in all their glory in the absence of Zaya’s unconvincing performance and turned the tide in favor of Team Liquid. Gradually gaining momentum, Team Liquid destroyed Team Aster’s hopes for further participation in TI11 and took a place in the top three.

They also destroyed the last hope of China for another victory at Aegis for the sixth time in a row – since 2016.
