Testing the Halo Infinite Preview Version Reveals Drops to 540p on Xbox One S, Series S.

The technical testing of the Halo Infinite preview has concluded, and while the reaction to the game has been mostly positive, Digital Foundry’s own tests have identified some shortcomings. While the PC and Xbox Series X versions mostly have no issues, the situation is different on the Xbox One S and Xbox Series S. According to Digital Foundry’s report, the game dropped to 540p on both of these consoles in some cases.

When running at 60Hz, it was found that the application runs at a resolution of 1080p, though it can drop slightly below this mark. However, at 120Hz, the situation was different, and the resolution dropped to 540p in some cases. On the Series S, drops to 540p are not very common, and instead, the game adjusts to 720p.

On the Xbox One S, the program makes several visual compromises to maintain the target frame rate of 30 frames per second. However, among various options for reduction, such as lower-quality resources and lighting, Xbox One S players will find that the game regularly drops to 540p.
