The 7 Best Warframes in Warframe
Warframe is a fast-paced looter shooter which simply keeps giving, even after years of being on its servers. Warframes are the game’s equivalent of classes, giving you access to different options as you navigate the game’s many battlegrounds. Choosing the “best” Warframe out there is a hugely subjective task, as it will all come down to how you want to play the game—or what team you are playing with.
Furthermore, you’ll need to kit out any Warframe with good gear and skins in order to get the most out of them—something you can do faster if you buy warframe platinum! That said, there are a number of Warframes who consistently rank as some of the most successful and essential for any team. Let’s take a look at 7 of these powerhouses and why you’d want to pick them.
To note, I’ll cover the key skills you’ll want to be using with each frame, but each one also has plenty more up their sleeves. And many can even be morphed to suit different play styles—so be sure to get creative!
-
Crowd Control: Revenant
Warframe is about taking on huge hordes of enemies and coming out on top. That means crowd control is one of the most important skill sets available in the game. Revenant is perhaps the best crowd controller out there. Enthrall forces your enemies to fight for you while Danse Macabre confuses and weakens enemies and Reave replenishes your resources. Revanant’s ultimate, Recombine, explodes enemies and leeches life from foes caught in the aftermath.
Ultimately, Revenant is a sustainable beast who can easily dominate huge groups.
-
Huge Damage: Saryn
If you simply want raw damage, Saryn is one of your best bets. A walking biohazard, Saryn spreads spores which infect enemies and deal continuous damage over time. While Saryn’s other abilities only dish out more damage, while providing some survivability. Saryn can be tricky to get a hang of, being a bit of a glass canon, but with the right setup and support Saryn will clear rooms in just a few seconds.
-
Stylish Skill shots: Mesa
The iconic gunslinger Mesa wields Regulator pistols which can dish out a huge amount of damage, provided you can hit your shots. Mesa’s abilities; Ballistic Battery and Peacemakers only turn up that damage potential. While Shooting Gallery provides some cover in the form of a decoy.
You need to master movement, aiming and positioning with Mesa; but if you’re a lover of clicking heads then Mesa is almost certainly the most satisfying pick for you.
-
Ultimate Support: Wisp
When it comes to the tougher content in Warframe, it’s all about teamwork. This is where Wisp comes in. Offering buffs, healing and tonnes of offensive capabilities all in one frame. Wisp’s abilities consist of Reservoirs, Breach Surge, Sol Gate and Cosmic Eclipse.
Reservoirs offer different benefits; buffing speed, health or offensive power. Breach Surge provides an instant boost to movement and damage while teleporting allies forwards. While Sol Gate creates a portal that allows for plenty of strategies. Cosmic Eclipse, on the other hand, weakens enemies while boosting allied damage—a double whammy.
-
Loot, loot, loot: Khora
If you’re grinding for loot, Khora is the best frame to take on that task. The whipcrack ability pulls enemies together, while Strangledome suspends enemies ready for AoE exploitation. That all makes gathering loot simpler, but if you augment your ability to Pilfering Strangledome then you can even increase the loot drops from affected enemies. This is the core of what makes Khora such a good frame for farming for loot.
-
The Tank: Inaros
Warframe is generally considered a game about speed, not tanking. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be a tank. Inaros is a living sandstorm and specialises in survivability. His passive convers damage into sand; which fuels his abilities. These are Desiccation, which saps enemy health and Scarab Swarm, which reduces incoming damage. It’s a different play style, but because of this Inaros can be a great asset when it comes to survivability. Both in solo and team encounters.
-
Speed Demon: Volt
Inaros sounding too slow for you? Don’t fret. Volt is the exact opposite. A master of run and gun, Volt is known for their speed and damage. Rush grants both you and your teammates with a burst of speed. Shock creates chain lightning through your enemies, stunning them. And Speed turns it all up to eleven, buffing movement, attack and rate of fire for your entire squad. Finally, Discharge unleashes a formidable shockwave which blasts enemies and chains to nearby foes when channeled.
Volt can be a bit squishy in the toughest encounters, but for low to mid-level missions, Volt totally crushes all competition.
With around 50 Warframes in the entire game, it’s hard to choose just a few which stand out on top. After all, pretty much every frame is viable in the right hands. But if you are struggling with which frame to pick up, this list has given you an understanding of some of the best and most widely used frames out there. So pick one up and start playing; the best part is that you can always switch out if you don’t like them!
