World of Warcraft Dragonflight: Announcement of the Next Legendary MMO Expansion.

Today, Blizzard announced its ninth expansion for its MMORPG – World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Dragons are returning to Azeroth, and players will join them on their home turf – the Dragon Isles. There will be five locations available for exploration, each dedicated to one of the Dragon Aspects, the leaders of the five dragonflights.

Dragonflight will also introduce a new race called the Dracthyr, which is more of a “race/class” combination because Dracthyr can only belong to one class, a new one for the game called the “Evoker.” The Evoker has two specializations to choose from – healer or ranged fighter. Like dragons, Dracthyr will have two forms – humanoid and dragon, which can be freely switched between (reminiscent of the Worgen from “Cataclysm”).

In addition, Dragonflight will feature a new type of flying mount – dragonback, which will have additional mount-specific abilities. The expansion also promises talent and profession system updates, interface improvements, and a level cap increase to 70.

The release date is unknown, but those interested can already sign up for the beta test. Additionally, during today’s presentation, Blizzard announced the release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for the classic version of the game – World of Warcraft Classic. It is expected to arrive later this year, but the exact release date is yet to be announced.
