Global Patch Released for Dota Underlords.

Less than two months ago, Valve released a global patch for the popular chess game Dota Underlords, which incorporated a vast number of changes. The lords’ mechanics were reworked, the ‘catalyst’ was removed, and some familiar heroes were also affected. However, the majority of the innovations targeted the overall gameplay experience. Let’s briefly describe the main features of this major update in the outgoing year.

New Character – “Jul”

Developers introduced the long-awaited hero, Jul, and added thematic description to him. “On paper,” we know that the character looks like a distinguished being with a complex personality and an unconventional set of abilities. He enjoys hot drinks and easily eliminates his opponents. He is a lowercase criminal, capable of manipulating others with ease, yet he is a man of action and an all-around great guy who restores justice on the city streets.

Item Changes

In this update, the familiar item list underwent significant changes: many “old-timers” were retired, new items were introduced, and some items returned from the “vault.” The game’s creators suggest that removed artifacts may reappear in their original spots in the future, but for now, they will be testing the project without them. New items like “Crystalys” or “Butterfly” are probably familiar to players from Dota 2.

Lord Selection

At this point, developers ask gamers not to panic because lord selection now occurs at round 10, rather than at the beginning of the match. Talents have also been removed, REPLACED by battle styles randomly chosen.

Altered Hero List

Valve aims to familiarize fans of the game with the idea that every season will shuffle heroes at their discretion. For example, one hero set will be available in winter, and a completely different one in spring, emphasizing different aspects of the lords at different times. As a result, some heroes have been removed from Dota Underlords for now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they have left the battlefield forever.

Standard and Duos Games Are Shorter

Developers are gradually speeding up the gameplay, much like in the original Dota 2. Standard and duos games are now shorter and much more enjoyable: at the start of the match, each character starts at level 3 and with 5 coins, and item rounds no longer contain creeps. Additionally, lord health has been reduced, and it is no longer necessary to win battles to obtain artifacts.

Changes and Fixes

The programming and design team that worked on the interface put a lot of effort into improving the game’s appearance. Of course, they focused on eliminating texture flaws, minor glitches, and serious errors that hindered gameplay. Naturally, over time, users will discover other bugs, but what existed before the update has been successfully rectified.
