In the game Call of Duty: Warzone, the Zombie Royale mode has returned, allowing players to play as zombies. This mode was previously in the game, where after death, players would return as zombies in Verdansk and could hunt other players, earning special capsules to become alive again. How to Become a Zombie in Warzone?

You can become a zombie in Warzone by heading to the prison or shipwreck areas. These areas now have mutating gas, which causes severe radiation damage to players. When you are in these zones, your screen turns green, and you start losing health. The damage from these zones is the same as from regular gas outside the infected areas. Once your health runs out, you won’t go to the Gulag but will return to the battlefield as a zombie.

If you plan to become a zombie in Warzone while in the air, your health will not decrease if you are above these zones. This is because the air is not contaminated, only the ground is affected, so you will only take damage when on the ground in the contaminated areas.

Zombies in Warzone: What Abilities Do They Have?

When you become a zombie, you gain three new abilities: Giant Leap, EMP Blast, and Gas Grenade. In addition to these abilities, you can inflict melee damage with your sharp claws. All zombie abilities and movement methods are the same as in Zombie Royale, so if you played during Halloween, you have already experienced playing as a zombie.

Changes Compared to the “Haunting of Verdansk” Event

This time, if you die in the infected zone, you immediately become a zombie. In the old “Halloween” event, zombies could collect antivirus syringes to resurrect, but this time, there are no syringes available. If you are playing in a Squad, only your teammate can revive you using the regular buyback method from a store.

During the Zombie Royale event, your team remains zombies for the duration of the game. You won’t lose even if everyone gets infected, as you can pick up syringes and resurrect throughout the match, potentially achieving an unexpected victory.

So, in the new event, you can only become a zombie if you have a living teammate, otherwise, you will all die together permanently and return to the menu. Why does this happen? If you don’t have a living teammate, there’s no one to revive you.

In Which Warzone Modes Can You Become a Zombie?

To become a zombie, you need to enter Verdansk with teammates. This works in pairs, trios, and quads, so a group of any size can get infected. If you are playing solo, you will die and go to the Gulag as usual, despite the infected zones still appearing on the map.

You also cannot become a zombie in Plunder or Rebirth playlists, so you will have to play the main Warzone Battle Royale mode with a team to become a zombie.
