Call Of Duty: Vanguard for PlayStation: lots of exclusive content

Sledgehammer Games has announced a slew of bonuses for PlayStation users in Call of Duty: Vanguard, and it’s quite a lineup.

As reported on the PlayStation Blog and echoed by CharlieIntel, PlayStation users can expect monthly events with double XP, additional slots for custom gear, and five tier skips in the Battle Pass. Those playing on PlayStation will also receive a new combat pack at the start of each new season (exclusive to PS Plus subscribers), along with a +25% weapon XP boost when playing with friends in a party.

Activision and Sony have an agreement in place where PlayStation users get early access to content over other platforms, and Vanguard continues this tradition. Prior to this, PlayStation had early access to the Champion Hill mode in Vanguard, and the game’s beta was initially available on PlayStation before rolling out to Xbox and PC.

A recent trailer for Vanguard indicated that exclusive PlayStation content won’t migrate to Xbox or PC for at least a year.

For years, Microsoft had an exclusivity deal with Activision for Call of Duty until Sony wrestled it away, starting with Black Ops III in 2015. Since then, each game has had some form of exclusive content for PlayStation, much like Destiny did when it was under Activision’s wing.

Vanguard launches on November 5th, and it’s not the only major event for Call of Duty this year. Warzone will introduce an entirely new map called “Caldera,” and the game itself will be rebranded as Warzone Pacific to align with the World War II theme. Additionally, Activision is ramping up its mobile efforts for Call of Duty, acquiring Digital Legends.

All of this unfolds against the backdrop of Activision Blizzard facing lawsuits and investigations regarding sexual harassment and discrimination against women within the company.
