Real Building Prototypes Found in Warzone
Users have noticed a resemblance between the structures on the map of the virtual city of Verdansk in the Battle Royale game Call of Duty: Warzone and real buildings in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk.
Certainly, there is no official confirmation from Infinity Ward, the developers of Warzone, that they used the city in Ukraine as a prototype for the game. However, some similarities between the buildings can be quite easily observed through visual comparison.
For example, the stadiums in Verdansk and Donetsk look very similar, with one key difference: the real “Donbass Arena” has an open roof, while the dome of the virtual building is closed. Additionally, the control tower in the game is almost entirely borrowed from the tower at the Donetsk International Airport.
Furthermore, the experiment’s authors noticed similarities between the real “Metro” hypermarket and the in-game “Atlas,” the parliament buildings of Verdansk and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as the virtual dam and the “DniproHES” in Zaporizhzhia.
However, the most striking resemblance was found between the Verdansk bank “Acropolis National” and the building of the Ukrainian bank “Brokbiznesbank” in Donetsk.
