Thorin criticized Valve for their professionalism

Renowned CS analyst and journalist, Thorin, never shies away from expressing his opinion regarding the professionalism of developers. Recently, he critiqued Valve for, according to him, failing to fully harness the esports potential of the game:

— Valve didn’t invent pistol rounds, didn’t devise the economy that dictates the course of a match, and has no clue about what makes a good map, he opined.

It’s no secret that Valve wasn’t the original creator of the game. They acquired the rights to it in 2000, and in 2011, they hired a different studio to develop CS:GO. However, this doesn’t exempt them from the responsibility for the game’s current state, which, according to Thorin, has room for significant improvements.

Valve’s Impact on CS:GO’s Evolution

Since acquiring the rights to CS, Valve has invested a lot of resources into the game’s development, including creating and supporting CS:GO. However, Thorin’s critique focuses on how they manage the esports aspect of the game, which, he believes, leaves much to be desired.

What Aspects Does Thorin Criticize?

Thorin emphasizes that despite all efforts, some key aspects of the game, like map balance and the economic system, require serious tweaking. He believes that these aspects are the cornerstone of a successful esports product, and their shortcomings can significantly affect the competitiveness and overall appeal of the game.

Developers’ Accountability

Developers, in Thorin’s view, should take responsibility for the game’s current state and aim for its improvement. This includes both refining existing mechanics and introducing new ones capable of enhancing the gameplay and making CS:GO more appealing to a wider audience.
