Dark and Darker: Diablo-style epic RPG has been removed from Steam

The Diablo-inspired role-playing game Dark and Darker has been removed from the Steam platform after Japanese-South Korean publisher Nexon allegedly sent a cease and desist letter. This came after a series of mutual accusations between the two companies.

Nexon has accused Ironmace, the developers of Dark and Darker, of stealing the game code for a project called “P3,” which allegedly resembles the hit Steam game dungeon crawler. Members of Ironmace were allegedly involved in the development of P3. However, the developers quickly began to deny the allegations, and were searched by the Korean police in early March.

On March 25, fans noticed that the game was no longer available on Steam, even though it wasn’t. A subsequent statement on the game’s dedicated Discord server explains the reason for the removal of Dark and Darker. Developer “Krapst78” reported that Nexon has filed a cease and desist letter and a DMCA request for Dark and Darker based on misrepresentations.

“We ask for your understanding as we work to get the game back up and running as quickly as possible. Please know that we will do our best for our fans,” the developer writes.

Dark and Darker exploded on Steam in February after a free demo test, peaking at over 100,000 concurrent players per day. This unforgiving hardcore fantasy RPG adventure with PvPvE dungeons invites you to dive into the bowels of an ancient citadel and find treasures to sell to the local merchant. Dark and Darker is reminiscent of the iconic Tomb Raider and Diablo games, so if you’re a fan of these games, be sure to check out Dark and Darker.
