Elon Musk Wants All Steam Games to Run on Tesla’s Dashboard.

Businessman Elon Musk has stated on Twitter that he believes full Steam support on Tesla’s infotainment system in the long term is more logical than adapting specific games for it. This comment came in response to questions from IGN journalist DMC Ryan.

Currently, some Tesla models’ infotainment systems already support certain specially developed or adapted games. However, in renderings of the updated Tesla Model S interior presented on January 27, 2022, games like The Witcher 3, Fallout Shelter, Stardew Valley, and Cuphead can be seen on the infotainment system. Elon Musk has previously mentioned that Cyberpunk 2077 will also be available on the infotainment system of the Cybertruck.

The new 17-inch infotainment screen in the Tesla Model S features a resolution of 2200×1300 and low response times, with media system power estimated at around 10 teraflops, which is similar to the processing power of next-generation gaming consoles. For comparison, the PlayStation 5 has a power of 10.28 teraflops, and the Xbox Series X has 12 teraflops. Additionally, the new infotainment panel will support wireless gaming controllers.

Elon Musk’s statement regarding support for the entire Steam library or at least games compatible with the Steam Deck seems quite natural given these capabilities. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement to confirm this.
