Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that it is working on a TV version of the popular teenage wizard book series for its online movie theater Max (formerly known as HBO Max). According to Deadline, the premiere of the project is scheduled for 2025-2026. This is due to the rebranding of the service and the need to create new content.
Production company J.K. Rowling is also looking forward to the show, as its profits have fallen 74% in the past year. However, it is not yet known who will star and who will direct. According to HBO and Max director Casey Bloys, the company is now actively looking for a showrunner, but there has been no official casting announcement yet.
The budget for the project, according to Bloys, will be in line with that of other major projects such as Dragon House and Game of Thrones. According to Deadline, House of the Dragon cost $200 million, not counting $100 million in marketing.
