Little Nightmares 2 is the creation of Swedish programmers from Tarsier Studios. And it’s not just a game, but the realization of what no one has been able to do before. The Little Nightmares project combines child helplessness, innocence, and horror with other sins. This game is extremely contrasting and thanks to this approach, it stands out from similar solutions with its brightness and darkness at the same time. It’s difficult to describe in words.
After loading Little Nightmares, you might mistakenly think that it’s a typical horror game, but in reality, it’s a fantastic adventure where the main character will have to solve various puzzles and complete very difficult tasks. Little Nightmares lacks dialogues and well-developed sound design, but there are plenty of questions that you’ll have to find answers to – this approach is truly unique and extremely interesting.
This deadly game of hide and seek starts where the story of the original version left off, with the addition of a completely new set of twisted monsters hunting the player in a variety of terrifying locations. The heroes (a boy and a girl) need to act extremely carefully, hide from the monsters, and use various mechanisms and stealth tricks, solve puzzles, and know when to run and hide.
The boy, Mono, can pick up items and wield a variety of weapons to either break through certain sections of the locations or fend off smaller enemies. In addition, Mono utilizes the abilities of the girl, Six, as she will accompany him for most of the Journey as a friendly AI-controlled partner. Sometimes Six truly helps the boy, but in some situations, she stubbornly gets in his way, blocking the path to escape.
The atmosphere of horror intensifies with high-quality visuals and detailed depictions of various monsters, as well as unexpected and fear-inducing sounds – creaking floors, footsteps behind, voices, sighs, and moans.
