What to Expect in the First Season of Call of Duty for Warzone and Vanguard

Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific will receive three new operators and five new weapons, according to the content roadmap for the first season published by Activision on Monday.

The new season for both the free-to-play battle royale and Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer will begin on December 8th. (For Vanguard owners; standalone Warzone Pacific players join on December 9th). Updates preparing both games for the start of the new season will be released on Monday at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

Two New Vanguard Maps – Paradise and Radar

The latter is a remaster of Dome from the 2008 game Call of Duty: World at War. Caldera, which has been talked about and advertised for almost the entire past month, is a new battle royale arena, joining the smaller-sized Rebirth Island with close-quarters combat, which was introduced a year ago. Three Warzone Pacific operators begin with Francis “Kaya” Lanakila, available through the Season One Battle Pass. Players can unlock him immediately by purchasing the Battle Pass, which typically costs 1,000 COD Points (about $10).

The premium Battle Pass once again has 100 tiers, and “you can earn a lot just by playing the game.” Premium Battle Pass buyers will also get access to a new operator skin for Arthur Kingsley, a 10% XP bonus for the entire season, and the “Battleprepped” skin for operator Polina Petrova. The gas mask is not functional but looks cool.

Following Francis, a new operator, Lewis Howard (who, according to Activision, will arrive by the end of 2021), and Isabella (full name Isabella Rosario Dulnuan Reyes, for reference) will follow. There is also a completely free Battle Pass system where players can unlock three functional weapons (not skins), two new bonuses, and new equipment, all for free.

The roadmap above and the official blog post on Call of Duty contain many more details. The final hours of Verdansk for the old Warzone battle royale map began at 1:00 PM Eastern Time and will end at midnight when the servers go offline for maintenance and the start of Season 1 updates.

Update (December 8th): Activision has released the Season 1 Battle Pass trailer (embedded at the top of this post), which provides more details about the new weapons and showcases the new operator in action. Season 1 will also introduce new player animations, MVP match cinematics, player titles, and kill cam vanity cams.
