World of Warships Fans in Opposition Due to Loot Boxes.
The discontent among World of Warships players towards the game’s developers is rapidly growing due to their emphasis on loot box mechanics and the associated problems.
The return of the American battleship “Missouri,” present in the game until 2018, became a turning point for game enthusiasts.
Wargaming’s initial statement that the famous ship could be acquired with in-game currency did not turn out to be true. The company changed its strategy, and “Missouri” became exclusively available in random loot crates.
This sparked a wave of protests, including from prominent gaming communities that supported World of Warships through their streams and YouTube channels. Following the company’s latest announcement regarding “Missouri,” 23 members of the gaming community left the game in protest, criticizing the company’s policy in their communications to the company.
However, Wargaming released a statement that they respect the choice of each World of Warships user and will consider their wishes in the future, adding alternative ways to purchase the ship. They made no comments regarding allegations of loot box abuse and excessive monetization of the game.
