Call of Duty Warzone Pacific: New Caldera Map Release Date

Call of Duty: Warzone’s next map, Caldera, is coming soon, and with it, the name will change to Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific. A new, biggest battle royale map to date is expected following the launch of the first season of Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer content.

There’s a lot of information out there to help Warzone players prepare for Caldera, which will replace Verdansk when it arrives. This guide brings together everything that is known and everything you need to know about the new battlefield.

CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE PACIFIC NEW MAP RELEASE DATE

Caldera will appear in the first season of Call of Duty: Vanguard on December 9th. Her debut will be preceded by several in-game events dedicated to both the preview of Caldera and the farewell ceremony for Verdansk.

There will be a “limited time encore” for Verdansk called “Operation: Flashback, launched November 18th. The multiplayer challenge series in Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard was originally scheduled to begin on November 24; it is unknown if it will be delayed by a week after the delay of the first season of Warzone Pacific and Vanguard.

Likewise, Beenox planned to launch a special event on November 30th and December 1st to shut down the old map. “Bombs off – see what happens to Verdansk before Warzone goes dark to prepare for Caldera and Season 1,” Warzone developer Raven Software said on October 28. “Expect a spectacular and fitting end to your stay in Verdansk as we say goodbye to the Caste city… forever?” It is also unclear if this will be delayed.

On November 4, Pelle Cionell, Activision’s chief creative officer, unveiled a first look at the map—sewn into the lining of a bomber jacket, no less. Upon closer inspection, players can discern some of the more than 200 points of interest.

Around the coast of the island, clockwise from the northwest, we see:

• ancient buildings
• naval shipyard
• Docks for ore processing
• Beach defenses
• submarine base
• City capital
• Airport
• fishing village

And in the center of the map are:

• Taro Farms
• Phosphorus mines
• and the volcano itself.

Raven Software stated that Caldera is “roughly the size of Verdansk”, but slightly larger, and “based on two years of research and listening to the community”.

Caldera’s environment includes “lush forests and rocky cliffs,” Raven said in late October. “White Sand beaches and mysterious ruins. And a dormant volcano towering over 200-odd landmarks.”

A series of 12 images were posted on the CoDwarfare forums on Wednesday to give a glimpse of what it all looks like.

Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific will be fully integrated with progression, items, and equipment for all players. “Expect all of your operators, calling cards, and more from Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare to remain in Warzone, as well as cross-progression and seasonal prestige,” Raven said.

This means that all operators, players’ personal profiles and their unlocked content will remain available and unchanged. “It also means that your level will be reset to military rank 1 in all games,” Raven said, “but this only applies to XP; all content that you have previously unlocked will still be available.” In addition, all original Warzone vehicles, “including ATVs and other vehicles from the Verdansk era,” will be carried over to the Warzone Pacific playlists.

“Your pink anime truck isn’t going anywhere,” Raven Software assured.

Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific will also feature special features exclusive to Call of Duty: Vanguard and its owners. Vanguard players will have the first day of Warzone Pacific and the Caldera map at their fingertips. “During this time, Rebirth Island will be running for all other players,” Raven said. Spawn Island will “continue to complement the main Warzone map.”

Vanguard will also feature a Battle Royale and Plunder mode specific to that game, “including weapons and vehicles such as biplanes and AA trucks.”

Update (November 19): Activision has delayed the debut of Warzone Pacific and the first season of Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer by one week. This post has been updated to reflect the new schedule.
