Activision Blizzard Employees Speak Out Against Sexism and Discrimination

The scandal surrounding Activision Blizzard is escalating rapidly, as many are dissatisfied with how the company treats women, often involving sexism and harassment.

Many employees of the company have sent an open letter to the management, expressing their grievances about gender inequality and citing numerous instances of such behavior. This letter has been signed by both former and current employees of the company.

“We are not going to stay silent, stand on the sidelines, or surrender our positions because we want to be proud of the company we work for. We are all going to change the situation,” – as quoted from the letter.

According to Bloomberg, more than 1000 employees of Blizzard have signed this letter. The company Blizzard downplays the significance of the word “victim,” thereby seeking to shift responsibility for this scandal onto others.

Joy Fields, a woman who worked as a curator at Activision Blizzard from 2006 to 2012, revealed that male employees often made advances towards her, frequently made lewd jokes directed at her, and frequently insulted her. Leaders turned a blind eye to this behavior. The main problem was that a manager himself harassed the woman, which eventually led to her suicide.

Why has the situation come to light now? It’s because on July 22, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard. The main allegation is that the company discriminates against women. All of this is based on a two-year investigation within the company.

While the investigation is ongoing, the company has halted the development of the game World of Warcraft, and there is information that no one is currently working on the game.
