Mod from the Creators of GTA United Removed Due to DMCA Pressure
Recently, Take-Two Interactive forced developers of some user modifications to cease their activities on several projects, citing their copyright claims.
Despite the fact that GTA United was not among the projects affected by the publisher’s actions and was not among the “condemned,” its developers decided to take preemptive action and announced the closure of the mod and its removal. Along with it, previously created VC2SA and LC2SA projects are also discontinued – users will no longer be able to download these projects.
The modding team believes that Take-Two and Rockstar Games are gradually squeezing user content developers into a corner. It’s important to understand that even projects that have existed for a long time, many years in some cases, are being impacted. This is not good news for newcomers and modding enthusiasts.
For reference, the foundation of the GTA United add-on is Grand Theft Auto. The mod is based on San Andreas, Vice City 2 San Andreas, and Liberty City 2 San Andreas, which contributed to its renewed popularity. Changes were made to the map as well: the new version includes a combined map of Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The worldwide GTA United legend took its first steps back in 2007. And a few years later, specifically in the winter of 2020, a presentation of the new version was held, which has existed up to the present day.
