With the onset of the winter season, the developers of Dota 2 have introduced the “Frostivus” event to players. Although the absence of a new game mode left some fans puzzled, the presented rewards and bonuses look very enticing. Let’s explore how to earn these prizes, what’s available for free, and how to enhance your Dota 2 arsenal during the holiday season.

Welcome Gift in Dota 2

After launching the game, the first surprise is a welcome chest, available until January 12th. Likely, it contains a random item for one of the characters. It might not be the most valuable find, but it’s still a nice bonus. However, if you have violated the community rules, instead of a chest, you will find “Very Toxic Coal” in your inventory, signaling a block on your account.

Free Rewards in the Event

For participating in matchmaking, players receive thematic gifts. Accumulating points from matches allows you to obtain various rewards, including temporary graffiti, emoticons, loading screens, and even the unique ward “Frosty The North Ward”.

Rewards for Wins and Losses

• 500 points for a win in normal mode;
• 250 points for a win in Turbo mode;
• 150 and 75 points for a loss, respectively;
• 2,000 additional points for the first win of the day.

Premium Rewards: Frostivus 2023 Chests

Each reward level includes a Frostivus 2023 chest with various thematic sets and items. These chests are categorized into 5 levels based on the probability of dropping rare items, including arcanas and personas for characters. Note that these chests can only be opened with keys purchased in the Steam store.

Chances and Probabilities

With each set from the chest, there is a chance to receive a special version of the item with winter effects. But remember, the likelihood of such items dropping is extremely low.

How to Get Rare Items

To obtain an arcana or persona, it’s recommended to use the “Exchange” menu. Trading five unwanted items of one level will give you a random item of a higher level. In this way, you can obtain an arcana for Wraith King or a persona for Crystal Maiden.

Strategies for Maximizing Rewards

To collect all free rewards, you’ll need about 30–40 wins, or play at least once a day to receive additional bonuses. To obtain most rewards from the chest, more than 50 keys will be needed. “Frostivus” will be a great way to diversify your gaming days and refresh your arsenal.
