New Patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War & Vanguard
The final season of the multiplayer game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is nearing its end, paving the way for Call of Duty: Vanguard. The first season of Vanguard is set to kick off on December 8th, but gamers can expect the new patch to drop a bit earlier on December 6th. Treyarch announced on Friday that the upcoming patch will include updates to the Prestige system, introducing new levels and challenges for the .410 Ironhide shotgun and the Grav assault rifle.
Unified Ranking System
Perhaps the most significant change in this patch is the synchronization of all military ranks and Prestige levels with Call of Duty: Vanguard. Previously, your rank across all games (excluding Vanguard) matched your rank in Black Ops Cold War. After the update, your rank in Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare will align with your Vanguard rank, ensuring that progress in any game contributes to your overall rank.
Lifetime Prestige Display
Additionally, the patch will introduce a feature displaying your lifetime Prestige across both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Players can track how many times they’ve Prestiged in each game, including Vanguard.
New Weapon Challenges
Players can also look forward to new challenges for unlocking the .410 Ironhide shotgun and the Grav assault rifle, available in both multiplayer and Zombies modes. Completing the designated challenges will grant access to these weapons.
Weapon Balance Adjustments
One minor tweak in the patch focuses on balancing the damage of the Marshal shotgun. The update will reduce its effective range while increasing damage falloff, aiming to adjust its overall power level.
All these updates are slated to go live with the Call of Duty patch on December 6th. While the changes to the Zombies mode will be immediate, other updates won’t take effect until the start of the new season on December 8th. While Treyarch, the developer of Black Ops Cold War, is behind this patch, it’s worth noting that Sledgehammer, the developer of Vanguard, might also release a substantial update next week, primarily focused on balancing the game for the start of its inaugural season.
