Digital Combat Simulator – another legend that is currently more popular than the universally recognized shooter. This popularity is due to the significant freshness of the game. Moreover, it is still supported by the creator company – new versions, patches, and realistic additions are regularly developed at an official level. The game’s setting is more extensive than IL-2 – stages include not only events of World War II but also other conflicts – the Persian Gulf, Syria, and the Caucasus.
From a mechanics standpoint, this flight simulator is just as complex as its predecessor. However, this version implements a completely new approach to controlling the aircraft. The game uses the DCSW platform, some components of which are used in MFS. Many aircraft are equipped with an advanced flight physics model, but the avionics model itself is significantly simplified. However, it cannot be ignored that the flight model is based on software for professional aviation simulators.
The gamer who uses the flight simulator will have to independently monitor all the systems of the aircraft – cooling, fuel, electricity, and hydraulics. Naturally, it is practically impossible to understand all of this in a short period of time, so the player can use the free version with two aircraft – Su-25T and TF-51D. But even with this approach, the player is offered aircraft with minimal simplifications.
Throughout its existence, the game has “acquired” dozens of new aircraft models. According to the developers, even more aircraft are in the process of being created and released. Currently, it is possible to fly and participate in battles in almost every corner of the globe – new campaigns can be purchased separately.
