The game, developed by id Software in collaboration with Saber Interactive, takes users back to a world of fierce competition and intense shootouts, making Quake the pioneer of multiplayer shooter genre over twenty years ago. This version combines the dark storyline of the first installment with the powerful online battles of Quake III Arena and the modern gaming trend of champions. Each of these warriors has unique skills and characteristics, allowing the hero to fight in the arena using their own distinctive style.
Abilities can be activated by pressing a button and have a cooldown period of approximately 30-45 seconds (the specific time depends on the champion). Items can be collected to reduce the cooldown duration. In addition to abilities, player skills also have a defining impact on the outcome of the battle.
Equipment is not present. There are leagues and ranks, and game modes include duels and deathmatch, as well as team play. This version is intended to draw attention to esports and become a highlight at QuakeCon.
