Swedish developer Fatshark announced the release date of their new shooter – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, and released a new trailer.

This game is eagerly awaited by all fans of the 40K universe, because we are still very short of quality shooters – the last good game in this genre was, it seems, Warhammer 40000: Space Marine (2011).

Warhammer 40000: Darktide is generally similar to another action game series of this developer – Warhammer: Vermintide. It will also be a cooperative shooter for four players, destroying regular waves of enemies. However, unlike Vermintide, which takes place in the Warhammer Fantasy universe, Darktide takes players to the future Warhammer 40,000.

Events in the game will take place in the 41st millennium, with the Imperial Guard working with the Inquisition to sweep the hive city of Tertium on the planet Atoma Prime from a heretical cult. Unlike the predominantly melee combat of Vermintide, Darktide will make extensive use of the traditional 40K “long-range” weapons, but hand-to-hand combat is also not going anywhere. What’s interesting, according to some rumors, the famous writer of 40K universe Dan Abnett had a hand in the game’s story.

Warhammer 40000: Darktide is due out September 13, 2022 on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game has a page on Steam, but you can’t buy it yet, only the “add to wishlist” option is available.
