Disney vs. Scarlett Johansson — Hundreds of Other Lawsuits May Emerge

Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit, accusing Disney of breaching her contract for “Black Widow,” which guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release. In response, Disney issued a statement accusing the actress of “callous disregard” for the COVID-19 pandemic and disclosed her $20 million fee for the film.

But this might not be the end of it. Matt Belloni, former editor of The Hollywood Reporter, noted in a newsletter (published by Screenrant) that Emma Stone may file a similar lawsuit regarding the film “Cruella,” which Disney released exclusively on the “Premier Access” streaming service. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are also considering legal action (for the Paramount film “A Quiet Place Part II”).

This is likely to mark the beginning of protracted legal battles, and the outcomes could have significant implications for the entertainment industry as a whole, especially if Scarlett prevails in court rather than settling the disputes.
