Paid Android Games Won’t Download in Russia. Why?

On March 10, 2022, a large number of users on Google Play in Russia started to complain that they were unable to purchase paid games on GPlay, and they were also unable to download them even if their subscription was paid for. Google Play’s customer support stated that the reason for this issue was that VISA and Mastercard had stopped working in Russia. As a result, users couldn’t renew their subscriptions automatically, which meant losing access to content.

All automatic payments for pre-orders were refunded to users’ cards, and trial versions were completely disabled in Russia.

Free games on Google Play Market are still available for download, and users can also download their previously purchased content such as books and movies to their phones.
