Amy Hennig’s Skydance Team Is Making a “Star Wars” Game.

Skydance New Media, a new studio led by award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig, will collaborate with Lucasfilm Games to create an adventure game with an original story set in the Star Wars galaxy.

Hennig, one of the creators of the first three Uncharted games at Sony’s Naughty Dog studio, has a track record of creating narrative-driven single-player adventure games with compelling characters. In addition to the Star Wars game, Hennig’s studio is also working on a game based on Marvel.

This move indicates that Disney’s Lucasfilm division is investing in PC and console games beyond Electronic Arts, where Hennig previously led the canceled Star Wars game in 2017. After completing that project, Hennig transitioned to Skydance Media, the Hollywood studio behind films like Mission: Impossible and Terminator. She founded the studio in the Bay Area and Santa Monica, California, along with longtime collaborator Julian Beak.

“I’ve often said that Star Wars meant everything to me when it came out in 1977, effectively rewiring my 12-year-old brain and setting me on this creative path. I am truly honored to be joining the Lucasfilm Games family and excited to be working with them again on an exciting new Star Wars adventure,” said Hennig, President of Skydance New Media, in a statement.

Hennig was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Game Developers Choice Awards in 2019, and in 2016, she received a special BAFTA award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the video game industry.

Skydance New Media was founded in 2019 with the goal of creating high-fidelity, interactive entertainment designed for traditional gaming platforms and emerging streaming services that are appealing, engaging, and accessible to a global audience.

Since its inception, the studio has assembled a team of developers and artists with a decade of experience in the action and adventure game genres, as well as a diverse group of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television, games, and comics.

Regarding the Marvel project, Skydance only stated that Hennig’s studio is collaborating with Marvel Entertainment to create an entirely new game with an original story and a unique take on beloved Marvel characters.
