The multiplayer first-person shooter is essentially a transfer of Counter-Strike to the Source engine for Half Life 2. The game features the same adventures of Gordon Freeman with the same gameplay, bombs, and hostages, but with better graphics and physics. This highly anticipated release has caused a real sensation in the gaming world!
Design and storyline
The visuals are undoubtedly pleasing with their ragdoll animation. Despite the slightly blurry textures, there is plenty of blood in the game, realistically splattering all over the walls and floor, while lifeless opponents complete the interior. The beautiful and meticulously detailed weapons cannot be compared to the “guns” in other shooters.
The game involves two teams: terrorists and operatives. The terrorists plant bombs, while the operatives try to defuse them in the “detonate” game mode. In the “hostage rescue” mode, players must free hostages from the prison, either by safely escorting them to a secure location or by eliminating all the invaders. By winning rounds, the team earns money, which can be spent on ammunition and equipment.
Although the game only has 9 maps, which is half the number in Condition Zero, the level design is meticulously crafted. The annoyance of repetitive settings can be eliminated with a set of skins.
Battle tactics
Among the innovations, terrorists can now block access to planted bombs, making it difficult for the defuser to reach them in time. Iron barrels have become unreliable protection, as they are knocked away when hit at close range, leaving the hero defenseless.
The game also features bulletproof vehicles, while bulletproof shields were not included in this version. One drawback is the two-meter tall terrorists who have inhuman durability, which is incomparable to armored guards who fall with the first shot.
CSS also impresses with its arsenal of weapons. Pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, and silenced rifles can be purchased with in-game currency. Overall, the game, although a typical remake of Counter-Strike 2, captivates from the first minutes, causing an adrenaline rush!
