Serious Sam 3 is a classic first-person shooter, very similar to the first two games in the series. You play as a person who can carry a large amount of weapons and you are faced with a number of bad guys that need to be killed.
It all starts slowly, and the first two levels can even be called boring. But when the enemies start rushing in waves, the merciless pace of the game is celebrated. Each enemy moves and attacks in a certain way, and the game sends them in dozens, and sometimes hundreds. Waves of enemies force you to move and shoot in specific ways to avoid damage, and just when you start feeling comfortable, the AI switches to a different type of enemy.
You can change the behavior of automatic weapon selection to “never,” “always,” “only if new,” or “only if it’s stronger.” You can play in third person if you want. You can turn the camera on or off. You can even change the behavior of automatic weapon selection to be different in single player and multiplayer games.
Of course, there is also a full set of multiplayer options, including cooperative play with up to 16 participants in the campaign, a survival mode where the AI simply throws enemies at you until you surrender, and other modes.
