Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Officially Confirmed.

Honestly, not a very surprising piece of news — back in late January, there was information that eleven studios are working on the new part of CoD, but finally, official confirmation has arrived.

The latest post on Activision’s blog about the future development of Warzone, among other things, states that the next installments of Call of Duty and Warzone are being developed under the guidance of Infinity Ward and are expected to be released later this year.

Both games are being developed from scratch and will use a new engine. Call of Duty 2022 will be a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019, while Warzone 2, according to the publisher, will be a “significant evolution” of the Battle Royale mode and will receive a new sandbox mode.

In addition, one of the leaders of Infinity Ward subsequently shared additional information about the new engine — according to him, it is “significantly better” than the one his team had before, and from now on, all studios working on different parts of Call of Duty will only use it. Until now, each CoD developer — Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games — had their own engines, complicating the work and bug hunting.
