HooXi after winning the BLAST Premier

G2 Esports’ Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen talked about his emotions after winning the BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 CS:GO Grand Final in a post-match interview.

This win means a lot to me. This is the first event where I won a stadium match, and now it’s also in the grand final. It’s perfect. I think it’s clear what I’ll say next. I’m not going to cry on stage – I’ve been doing that all week. But, of course, I would like my father to see what I’ve accomplished. He would finally be proud of me.

He also talked about his uncertainty after he moved to G2.

I already said on stage that I don’t want to be a crybaby, but I admit I’ve been crying for the last six months. On the second day of bootcamp with G2, I sat in my hotel room and cried because I didn’t think I was good enough. Now here I stand with a trophy in my hands… I don’t know what else to say. <…>

I am extremely exhausted. This has been the hardest year so far, personally and career-wise. I think I’ve been sleeping about two hours a night since we got to Abu Dhabi, and I’m not kidding right now. Even waking up in the morning is difficult.

The BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 tournament was held December 14-18 in Abu Dhabi. Nielsen lost his father before the tournament, but decided to stay at the event for his family. G2 Esports defeated Team Liquid in the grand final to become the champion, earning $500,000.
